Hello! I'm using most parts from Linus' under $1000 4K build guide. I have changed up a few parts, and I'm wondering what case, power supply and if there are any better Graphics cards I should get under $220?

I already have ordered a keyboard and mouse, and have a 1080p monitor. I might get some hate for using a 4K build guide, but it will still work, with better performance most likely on a 1080p monitor... right?
As of now I only have a stock Aspire X3990.

RAM | Kingston Hyper X Fury 8gb | $62.99

Motherboard | MSI ATX DDR3 2133 Motherboard 970 | $89.99

Graphics Card| R9 285 DDR5 2gb GPU | $209.99

Processor | AMD FX-6300 6-Core | $99.99

Looks pretty good. I have the 8320 and it plays all the games I need it to very smoothly. Will you be overclocking??

That CPU will bottleneck the GPU, unless you're planning on overclocking the 6300.

actually what's your total budget? That will help

I have an i5 @2.80GHz Quad-core in my current PC, don't know if it'll work well though. Budget is $1000-1200

I might be overclocking, yes. What CPU fan should I use then?

Well if you're going to be overclocking, I'd get a motherboard with a 990FX chipset rather than 970. These have better power delivery systems so you can overclock a little better. I think they also help a little with heat. As for the cooler, I'm not really sure about that. I've only ever had the hyper 212 evo. I'm sure that someone else could help you out with that though. Have fun and good luck! :) Oh and if you want to go AMD, don't listen to the haters and fan boys. AMD and Intel both have good things to bring to the table. I have an AMD rig myself with the FX 8320 and I couldn't be happier with it. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for your help, I will get a 990FX Chipset, then. How about a AMD Athlon X4 860K for $86.89, it's %54 off at http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Edition-3700Mhz-AD860KXBJABOX/dp/B00MU00IOQ

Ok, thank you! I'm only a newbie at making gaming rigs, but I know the basics. I just want to make sure I'm getting the best bang for my buck. Also, the budget is in AU currency

Gaming, mostly. Oh and sorry if I sound stupid choosing certain processors, I'm not very good at tech yet :P

haha nah don't worry about it! I was just like you like 6 months ago. haha You'll learn all of this stuff, trust me. What kind of games are you going to be playing by the way? Sorry for the questions, I just need to know so I can give you some better advice.

Well, if I have left over money from the build, I'll be buying some more 'demanding' games. Right now it's Rust, DayZ, Nether, CS:GO, TF2 and Garrys mod. I'm thinking of getting Battlefield: Hardline and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

hmmmm this is tough. I'd get other people's advice because for as much as I know, I don't know that much...haha But in my opinion, I'd go with either an i5 4690k or an AMD FX 6 series or 8 series. I think these processors should serve you nicely for what you need them, the AMD especially when you overclock. And then I'd pair it with an R9 280x or an R9 290. Again, get some other people's opinion. Remember not to rule out AMD though, Intel is not the end all and be all of gaming. I have an AMD rig and my games run extremely well. Anyway, if you have any other questions or anything feel free to message me and I'll do the best I can to help you out! Have fun!
