Dose CPU really affect my gaming performance(FPS)?

Well, not that much. It can if your CPU bottlenecks the GPU.

lol dude.. you use a CPU older than FX. check your motherboard if it support FX 6350.

@anticeon No it won't, the FX-6350 uses AM3+ socket while the Athlon X4 740 uses FM2 socket.

In most cases the performance difference is null, even at higher framerates, because the i7 is essentially an i5 with hyperthreading (plus a bit of cache). If they are running at the same frequency, most of the times there will be no noticeable difference. The only exceptions are the (few) games that actually make use of more than 4 threads. Of course there are other reasons to get an i7, but for strictly gaming it's rarely worth the extra 100 bucks.

AGAIN your opinion is based on gaming benchmarks you've seen in GPU BOUND SCENARIOS...i'm telling you this: i do own an i7 CPU therefore i CAN enable and disable HT at will...and when i test games at 720p to really be CPU bound i can tell you that the CPU with HT enabled output A LOT more frames in MANY AAA titles...most games do use 6 to 8 threads nowadays and HT does allow the CPU a lot more drawcalls.

Of course when i play at 1080p ultra settings it won't change much, i get anywhere from 60 to 90FPS in AAA titles with eiter config...obvious, in these conditions i'm entirely GPU bound.

(Not saying the i7 is worth the extra price tag when it comes to gaming, at least not as of now...for more future proofing down the road under DX12? probably...)

there's nothing wrong with wanting ''more Future proof'' parts...there's no such thing as ''future-proof'' in PC gaming, BUT...MORE FUTURE PROOF...sure, the i7-4790K is A LOT more future-proof than the pentium G3220 for example...a titan X is A LOT more future proof than a R7 260X...isn't it?

You aren't supposed to get 60 frames. You are supposed to get 38.8 frames. the video seems fishy

Lets all ripperoni in pepperoni

Damnit, games are developing very quickly aren't it?

since, as you said yourself, nothing is future proof, buying something because it's "more future proof" is a logical fallacy and a waste of money. And nothing guarantees it will "last" any longer than a g3258, even though it's likely, in the tasks where right now there's little or no performance difference.
