HI,

I want to build a new gaming desktop but i have a small budget of $400 (best-buy gift card) i already have a build in mind http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17005&type=page( i know there is no case, disk drive, and os i have those ) so if you have any ideas that can make this better please tell me! just remember it has to be under $400 USD ( shipping included sales tax isnt ) on bestbuy.com

Link shows me nothing. Also, there are plenty of guides on Youtube for cheap PC's. A good rule of thumb is not to get a crappy PSU from a 5th world brand, 8 gigs of ram, and since games use few cores, a Haswell Pentium is a good CPU.

That's not supposed to do that....

While before now there hasn't been a big need for more then 2 cores for gaming that is changing. Some games that have come out recently already require more then a dual core processor to play. And with DX12 around the corner and other new games this is going to become the norm and a dual core cpu isn't going to really cut it for much longer. So I would suggest you opt for a quad core amd chip instead it'll be very similar in price and while yes you might lose a few fps in a few games it'll have much better potential going forward since it'll have more cores to work with.

I would seriously consider looking at used parts for that small of a budget.

Honestly I'd look into taking that gift card into bestbuy and trying to get cash for it because if your trying to build a pc all from parts on bestbuy.com its not going to be easy. Like a few people said above, the selection is just terrible but thats expected because their not a computer hardware retailer. Another negative is their prices are generally higher than other places like newegg or frys. Just try and find good reviewed items if your forced to get it from bbuy. goodluck

Whelp forgot to include a drain valve in my loop, there's always next time.
