Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations for a decent pair of headphones (under $100) that look good and will last for a while. They don't need to have a mic as I would pair them with the ModMic. They are going to be used for some gaming as well as listening to music, but I am no audiophile. A closed headset would be preferable unless someone can convince me that open is better. Thanks!

Shure SRH440 - $90 on Amazon, great headphones, neutral sound to fit to every type of music, use it as my travelling headphone, (at home I have 5 more headphones but these are all over $200) and they are really great, a bit on the heavy side so it can hurt a little bit your head after 2 hours of use, but you get used to it and another great thing is that you get a pouch and that the cable is detachable.

for gaming I'd go ad700's but if you mix music in there, srh-440's would be great.

Will work for electronic components and parts

Thanks! Do either of you know how the shure srh-440s would compare to something like the Audio-Technica ATH-M30s? The ATs are cheaper (and saving money is great), but if they are inferior I would not buy them.

Yes the Shure is better because when it came out, it did cost $130 so it's not comparable to a the ATH-M30, but look online for more in-depth reviews because I never tried these ones out, but in the end, if they are well priced and if the test say that they are good entry level headphones, go for these ones, it's always better to save a little bit :)

I actually own the srh-840's not the 440's, but the build quality is great, and musically was better than my hd595's.

AD700 is great for games but severely lacks bass. This doesn't bother me for games however.
