Need help with Analog speakers.

Go to solution Solved by JefferyD90,

Because of the impedance this is going to be a little bit more difficult. JVC has really built this so the speakers can only be used with this setup. Basically, this is how it goes:

JVC built each speaker cabinet with 2 separate sets of speakers. The speaker cabinet, what you probably call the "Left or Right Speaker", actually has separate speakers in each one. Usually a manufacture will wire all the speakers together inside the cabinet so they create one single output. In this case, your manufacture has made the subwoofer and midrange speakers a separate wiring all together. Not only that, they have put them at a very odd impedance.

End result - You're either going to need 2 amplifiers (one for both of your midranges, and one for both of your subwoofers) OR one single amplifier that can handle all 4 speakers (which is going to be a rare case or extremely expensive.

My honest suggestion would be get new speakers with a new AMP and call it a day... This setup isn't worth putting more than $75 into. Maybe you can open up the cabinet and salvage the amplifier some how and just get a new source for now.

If you'd like me to try to find a suitable amp for the speakers still, let me know and Ill give it a shot. But I'll be honest, I truly think you're better off floating about $200-250 on a whole new setup.

Hello, this is my first time posting here. Also what I need to mention is that i don't understand anything about audio equipment. So anyway I have an old pair of speakers and the control box (I'm going to keep calling it that until I understand how it actually is called. It's the thing that regulates audio levels, that you put CD's in etc.). So my idea is to get rid of said control box and/or replace it with something smaller/more modern, because it takes a lot of space and occasionally doesn't work properly. I have taken images that may give you a better idea instead of my uneducated ramblings.
The thing i want to get rid of:

Thank you for your help.

P.S. Sorry for bad english.

thats just a multi disc system

you best option would be rip all your cds to flac or mp3 and put them on a NAS device..then you can stream the music to anywhere in the house

if thats to much work..then they do have smaller multidisc systems

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

just msg me on my profile

The "Control Box" as you're calling it is nothing more than a amplifier and a source.

This is how music works:

Media > Source > Amplifier > Speakers

CD > CD Player > Amplifier > Speakers

The "Control Box" as you're calling it, is nothing more than a CD player and a Amp in the same physical box.

If you're looking to keep the speakers and just replace the amp on the cheap, then look at something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Pyle-PCAU46A-Watts-Amplifier-Display/dp/B00BQO4VN6/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1428068388&sr=8-5&keywords=pyle+amp

But we will need to know what kind of power handling those speakers have. (Im going to guess around 10 watts)

Edit: Im guessing this is your setup? http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL026290&pathId=13&page=3&archive=true

If that is the case could you please send me a picture of the wiring? This could potentially be a little more complicated, but it probably isn't.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I might have made it not clear in my post, but I essentially want to use these speakers with my PC without the hassle of that huge box. Something that would connect them to my PC without the discs/floppies.

Keep in mind that I'm not exactly a genius in these things :D. Where should I look for the power handling? If it is on the back of each speaker it says:

Power handling capacity

Main speaker 55W

Subwoofer 130W

Impedance

Main speaker 6ohm

Subwoofer 6ohm

Thanks for your replies, these speakers only have a sentimental value to me as they were my fathers. I actually have a pretty good set up, was just wondering if there was a cheap/easy way in making these work in my other room. Again, thank you for your time.
