best CPU for gaming

Go to solution Solved by TheKDub,

You can get an i5 4590 from microcenter for $160 if you live near one, it would be a better option for gaming than a fx 6300 or 8350.

Other than that the two @CharlieR1 mentioned would be your best options.

FX 6300 or 8350.

Edit: Do you live nearby a Micro Center?

The Rig: NZXT H440 M3 (Green and Black) (Ncase M1 coming soon!!) | Intel Core i5-4690k x BeQuiet PureRock Slim | EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SSC  | ASUS H81i Plus | 12GB EVGA SSC @ 1600MHz | Seagate Barracuda 2TB | Sandisk Ultra II 480GB | Corsair SF 450| LG 29" Ultrawide | CoolerMaster Quickfire Rapid TKL | Corsair M65 Black Sennheiser HD 558 (MOD) | Audio-Technica ATR 2500

As stated above, the FX may be your only option. I would not overlook the Pentium-K though, even with 2 cores it is a little monster and out performs the FX line in a lot of games.

If you can get your hands on an i5-4460 somehow in your budget, that would be the way to go. You'll likely need access to a Micro Center for this to happen.

You can get an i5 4440 for 170$. As said above if you live near a microcenter you can find one for cheaper. (Performs amazingly)

Or you can get an i3 4150 for 104$ which will outperform the FX line of processors in modern games.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

i7 9700K (5.2Ghz @1.2V); MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC; Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB 3200 CAS 16; H100i RGB Platinum; Samsung 970 Evo 1TB; Samsung 850 Evo 500GB; WD Black 3 TB; Phanteks 350x; Corsair RM19750w.
