Overclocking FX-8350

What should I overclock my FX-8350 to? Also should I overclock my gpu as well?

 

Specs: 

 

  • CPU: AMD FX 8350
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte 990 FXA-UD3
  • PSU: Corsair CX Series CX750M
  • GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming
  • Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo

GPU Yeah! But with that cooling solution on your CPU I won't recommend any overclock as it run's hot at high stock speeds.

GPU Yeah! But with that cooling solution on your CPU I won't recommend any overclock as it run's hot at high stock speeds.

 

Overclock your CPU to get the most out of it. OC'ing your GPU won't do much. It'll be bottlenecked at stock by the 8350.

But is the potential damage and VERY high temperatures of overclocking on that cooler are going to out way the small proformance gain of the whole system

The cooler can handle a medium overclock for sure, many people are overclocking with that combination

Get AMD overdrive, and do automatic overclocking.

Sound: Custom one pros, Audioengine A5+ with S8 sub.

The cooler is ok. Slowly up the clock speed and check temps while doing prime95 or something like that.

 

 

Funny enough you have a very similar setup to me. FX 8370 and 970 G1 Gaming.

 

Your mobo does kick mines ass though. (ASUS M5A97 R2.0)

8350 doesnt bottleneck a 970 lol
