So I was playing some of The Long Dark last night with a friend of mine (two separate games just talking through Skype about it) And I had afterburner running on my second monitor as well as core temp just to see how things are running. Running around outside I was a getting a pretty stable 60 FPS and my GPU usage was at around 35% with the fans barely running and temps at about 68C. Then I went into a building and was rummaging around for supplies when I looked over and saw my GPU was pegged at 99% usage and the temps were high 70C range with my fans kicking up to 30%. Why do you think when I go into small closed spaces that I have a full load on my GPU but when im outside in the open world with way more particles and lighting my GPU is kinda just chilling?

Any ideas? Its not really gonna kill me, but im curious why my 970 would go all crazy like that....
