Dear fellow forum friends, I am going to be getting myself a "new" R9 280X for 100 dollars USD today. and i needed a new powersupply for it, so i bought the EVGA 600B 80 plus bronze power supply, this should have the power to run the 280X correct? the rest of my system is an AMD A8-5500 quad core cpu 8 gigs of ram, a western digital 1TB WD blue and an ocz arc 100 ssd. Thanks in advance for your help!

That PSU will work just fine. It is Bronze rated with a good single 12V rail.

That is what i had thought when i bought it, but some of my coworkers at micro center had their doubts.

No worries here. This PSU will work just fine for your system. This won't be the PSU where you can CF 2 R9 280X but for a single card, it is fine.

I can say it will be based on weather or not you overclock it. I know the R9 280 I currently use Its pulling all the power it can with the overclock I have on it 24/7.

But you run it with extreme OCs :). Even the Titan X or R9 290X will run with a 600W PSU, of course not  with hard OCs, but I think he'll be fine with a R9 280X.

True I guess drawing 410W with a single R9 280 is pretty extreme :D

Lol you draw with a R9 280 as much as I do with a Titan X with modded BIOS... you are insane :D.

Only slightly insane :P If I could get better voltage control on this 280 it would be easily needing the additional 6-Pin for the PCI-E slots on my board.

So far from what I can tell the Titan X would only make sense with more phases for LN2 or DICE cooling. For performance custom watercooled like I do it is good enough with its 6 and 8 pin. But yeah I think the OP will be fine with his 600W because we play in a different league lol :D.
