I've currently got some money to spend and am looking to get the best graphics card possible. While I can't afford a 790 or a titan, I'm looking at the MSI 770 lighting edition and a stock 780. Which card is more worth the money .Do I buy the cheaper card and take a little bit less performance or buy the more expensive card and get the extra FPS?

Thanks for the advice!

Buy the 780 it is almost Titan level and a lot cheaper. Than overclock that bad boy and bam, you will have one heck of a gaming rig.

CPU - I7 4770k @ 4.3GHz GPU - EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Motherboard - ASUS Maximus VI Extreme RAM - 16GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 2133MHz  Case - Corsair 800D PSU - Corsair AX1,200i CPU Cooler - Custom Liquid CPU Cooler SSD - Samsung 840 Pro 256GB Hard Drive - Western Digital Black 1TB.

If you can afford the 780 get it and overclock it. It's basically in the same league as the Titan. Also consider the the AMD 9 series is going to get revealed in a couple months if you can stomach the wait hahaha

Is that set out to be better than the 700 series from nvdia?

I doubt it will touch the 780 or the Titan but the GK104 ones like the 760 and 770 it will probably beat if they dont have a competitor to Titan and the 780 is basically a cut down Titan they are not going to beat it.

some rumors have the HD 9970 at 4096 cores, double what it has right now.

that would give it anywhere from 35-50% more performance.

and thats is more than the GTX Titan....quite a bit more.

doubt that rumor is true though.

True but when I'm spending that much money I'll wait for more info from the competition lol if the new amd card is withing striking distance of the 780 and at a significantly lower price then we have a contender

so you want it to be better than the 780 and lower significantly lower priced, along with the games bundle.

I said striking distance, I'd be happy with it being slower at a $500 is price range somewhere between the 770 and 780 in performance. $650 for a 780 is steep for me so a cheaper alternative I would probably get. Basically an amd card that is to the 780 what the 780 is to the titan.

And I dont care about never settle. I don't get hardware based on freebies lol

you do realize that those "freebies" might as well be $150 cash in hand.

you don't need to keep them.

I know but that doesn't mean that I'm going to jump on it so I can turn around and sell it. To me its like mail in rebates. They are a bonus to bring down the price but I'd rather have a lower upfront cost than go through hassle getting money back with no guarantee. That's just a personal preference though.

They are a great value if you're interested in the games but I'm generally not interested in AAA games unless they are some sort of RPG like Morrowind.
