best external storage?

so as the title says whats the best external storage. By best i mean something that is reliable and secure i do have a ssd caddy if an ssd would work as an external backup device but id want something a little larger.

Would you rather prefer a portable external drive, a DAS (Direct Attached Storage - basically a larger external drive) or a NAS (Network Attached Storage)?

 

I could suggest checking out Western Digital's solutions and see if any of them meet your needs. All of them work great as backups and are pretty reliable:

hey captain_WD id rather have a DAS at this time i cant really see myself needing the NAS at this time least not yet. also your links dont work for some odd reason.

DAS is a great solution for backups. Just make sure it is disconnected when not performing a backup (unless you are not doing a continuous one.
