Hi guys,

First post, but been reading/learning through the forum for a while,

Have decided to jump into a new build, mainly for gaming and a little office work,

I need some recommendations on how to go about cooling this thing, ambient temps will always be around 22c-26c, as this will be living in my office, and air con is permanently active.  Also some feedback would be great.  I know the Titan X is overkill, but would prefer to 'future proof' it as best as I can, or another option could be to run dual 980's.  It'll be hooked up to either a Samsung 590D or an Acer 280HK, so 4K is the road I would like to go down (Need the screen real estate for work).  As for peripherals I already use a 2014 Razer Blackwidow as my daily keyboard, and love the feel.  So would probably get another one for the new rig, but a recommendation for a good daily mouse would be great.

This would be my first Windows OS rig since the days of Vista.  Moved over to Apple, which works well for our office use, we are all hooked up to Mac Mini's, but they aren't powerhouses by any means.  Any opinions on this build would be appreciated.  Thanks guys.

I don't see any serious issues.

I assume the 1200W is there for possibly adding more cards in the future?

Are you gonna be overclocking? The h110 would be overkill if you're not overclocking, especially in an air-cooled environment, and it will also be louder than a good air cooling alternative, though I don't know how important silence is to you.

For starters, I question the need for a 5930k. The 5820k is virtually the same CPU, but with less PCIe lanes (which only matters in 4-way GPU configs) but a much lower price.

I doubt you'll need those 32 gbs of RAM, given the fact that you have been using Macs. You'll probably be golden with a "mere" 16 gbs. Although I don't know what programs you'll be using, I'd suggest only getting 16gbs for now, and adding more later if your usage becomes bottlenecked by it.

Next, the 1TB SSD. Is it REALLY necessary? Don't you think that 512 gbs will be enough? And at any rate, it's a bit useless to get the 850 series. You could just get something like the Adata Pros; just as good, but with a lower price. And of course, 2x 512gb is probably cheaper (and faster!) than 1x 1TB.

Stupid. Over. Kill. PSU. Change now. Get a lower Wattage. 650W if you only ever plan to have 1 Titan X, 850W if you'd like 2 of them.

Thanks for the feedback,

Reason I thought of the 1200w PSU is just incase I decide to expand in the future.  Im located in the UAE so shipping is going to cost me an arm and a leg, I rather order parts once and be done with it.  Ill most likely change it out for the 850W then, it'll still give me room to expand in the future, and save me some money.

Thanks for the info on the 5820K, will use that instead, the price difference is worth it.  I currently have 8GB @ 1600MHz on my system.  Its usually under 40%-60% of pressure based of what iStats tells me.  I have a couple of background tasks that I need open at all times, and the mini is not a massive fan of it.  It really can't handle most of the stuff I throw at it, and using Chrome doesn't help it at all.   Imakuni, you're probably right, 16GB would be more than enough for me.

As for the 1TB SSD, I have a crap ton of media that I need to have ready at a moments notice, I run a detailing/performance company, and when I have clients with me I like to have everything ready when needed.  Just looked at my media folder and its at about 290gigs at the moment.  512 would cut it, but rather go as large as I can for the SSD. Love how fast everything is when using an SSD, I only chose Samsung as I've been using them for a while and have yet to have a negative experience.  Will look at the Adata options and replace it with the 2x 512 (Could run dedicated drives then).  Will stick with the 3TB HD just as a dump, I have a ton of movies/shows which could find a nice home on that drive.

I'll end up overclocking the system once everything is running smoothly, hence the choice of the the H110i.  Running silent isn't really that important to me as there is a ton of ambient noise which will more than cover up any noise the system makes, but I would not want it to sound like a jet engine on startup (xbox 360  ). I just want to make sure there won't be any issues with heat as I've had some interesting experiences with our mac's when they are pushed. I like to run my systems as cool as I can.

A lot of my decisions are overkill simply due to the fact I only want to buy parts once.  Shipping charges to the UAE are absurd to begin with, then getting hit with a love letter from customs is the cherry on top of my cake.

Any more recommendations/tips?

Already locked down the case, found a local retailer and I should have it in hand by days end.

Placing the order for the Motherboard, 5820K to get things rolling,

Switched up the Titan to a 980, seems like a smarter idea to run perhaps 2 980's in the future if needed, or upgrade if required.  Still debating this decision,

So new build looks like this, still need some help on how to go about keeping this thing cool,

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($372.95 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GT 113.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($149.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Asus X99-DELUXE ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($382.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: A-Data XPG SX900 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($221.98 @ NCIX US)
Storage: A-Data XPG SX900 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($221.98 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked Video Card  ($609.99 @ Amazon)
Case: be quiet! Silent Base 800 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($119.99 @ NCIX US)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit)  ($134.89 @ OutletPC)

Still extremely undecided on the GPU, the Titan X keeps calling my name.

My basic uses will be gaming at the highest resolutions the card can handle, I primarily play iRacing the most, and then various games on steam such as Tropico, Just Cause, etc..

Those are basically the games I play the most, but as I currently use a 4K/UHD monitor, if they could run smoothly at the native resolution, i'll be happy.

Based on that would the EVGA 980 be sufficient.?

The Titan X is currently out of stock on Amazon, which is a bummer as I prefer to get all my stuff from them (Prime + Shop N Ship), its the easiest and cheapest way to get items delivered to me.

Locked down the memory and its on its way,

Went with 2x of the Cruical MX100's @512GB instead of the A Data option from  Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KFAGCUM/ref=psdc_1292116011_t3_B00L2C46GO

The Seagate 3TB to be used as my media dump (Shows, movies, etc),  and stuck with the Corsair Vengeance 16GB.

Current build follows, all thats left is the cooling and GPU, trying to get my hands on a Titan X locally if I can find one at a reasonable price instead of paying the ridiculous markups some local retailers are asking for it..
