first time overclocking cpu :) (4690k)

The way silliconlottery delids, you're just replacing the bad paste they apply, it wouldn't make sense that they'd put decent paste on one cpu and that's it.

Theres people who have K chips that aren't even able to overclock even 0.1GHz more, would delidding make it the chip from a bad batch overclockable to a high point?

Delidding literally is only for helping with temperatures...

Then couldn't you add some more voltage for more stable speeds, and with the chip running cooler, heat would be less of an issue? (I know if the voltage was increased A LOT, that would be bad, but still...)

Recently swapped out my CPU+Mobo and currently have a 4690k on an MSI Z97S SLI Krait, using an H60 for cooler.

I've got it to 4.5GHz on 1.22v, idles at 30°, when at load it gets to around 65° sometimes touching 70°.  Really have no reason to want anything more out of it, except for the fact that AC:Unity still maxes it out and bottlenecks my 980.  But that's AC:Unity.  I have not tried to push it further.
