So I really want to push my system (i5-4670k, Be Quiet Dark Rock 3, GTX 970) to the limit overclocking wise, just to see what it can handle and how the increase will help in games. What is the best way to test the overclock, and what other settings besides voltage do I need to adjust?

exactly, follow this guide carefully and take your time and you should get good results.
