So I am upgrading my ram for aesthetic purposes.

 

The kit in question is 2x4gb Corsair Dominator Platinums, 1600mhz

Is it safe to buy RAM used?

I would if it was a 2x4 kit, but it is 1x8, which is ugly, and it has always been my dream to have Dominator Platinums.

 

And I have pretty much sold my RAM, whenever he gets the money, he is going to take them

I understand your dilemma. The only thing I'd worry about is what these used ram may have been through before you got them. No chance for an RMA. Caveat emptor. Let the buyer beware. Its hard earned money I'm sure and you don't want to watch it go up in flames. Are you going to be using PayPal to buy it? You might be able to delay the deduction of money for the time it takes to test the ram out.

A new set of the 1600 dominators would cost you 187 aud. Am I right? Your getting 65 for your other ram. I'd offer him 80 depending on how old and used up they are.

You don't want to pay full price for used ram. Especially if you don't know if it will work. That's the part that worries me buying used. Especially computer hardware.

$125AUS would be the "used" price point of that RAM set. since they are 

lifetime warranted, really not a gamble, other than DOA on purchase.

Yeh they are pretty damn reliable, no real need to fuss about them not being 100%. I got my LP kit for $120, so if you can get some Dom Platinums for the same price, than that's bloody nice.

Definitely ask for the place of purchase and receipt though, you'll almost certainly want it down the line.
