xbox networking need help please

Go to solution Solved by VirtualR3ality,

i have to admit that as much as i know about PC's i'm not that advanced in specifically the area of networking, never had a reason to learn so i guess the time to learn is now. i have no idea what NAT type is. so if you could give me some more info about NAT types and ports i would be appreciative.

Ah okay, well you will need to go into your router control panel and figure out how to port forward. Every router is different. I would recommend looking up instructions by your model numbers.

You can find the ports that need to be forwarded here: https://support.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-360/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live

You need to go into your advanced network settings on your xbox and find the local IP of your xbox, then port forward to that IP.

hey i know that this site is for mostly PC's but i have a xbox 360/xbox one problem and if anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear. the problem is that i connect to a game lobby in say GTA V online or destiny and about 5 to 30 seconds later it disconnects and says network error no error code or anything and just goes into single player and sometimes completely disconnects from xbox live, and the problem is with both my 360 and one so i know its not a problem with the console. i have wired them both so wireless is not the problem and my gaming PC is not showing anything wrong with the bandwidth so thats no the problem, also i have tried multiple  times to reboot my router so thats not it either. my only idea is that maybe i can do something in the advanced area in the console settings. so if anyone has any input or ideas please tell me. thanks!

Alright, you haven't clearly described your issue. Is the problem they're not connecting to the network? Or are you having NAT issues.

What is the problem? I think in your hurry, you have not said what your actual problem is.

oh yes sorry i seem to have somehow left that part out so sorry about that.  any ways the problem is that i connect to a game lobby in say GTA V online or destiny and about 5 to 30 seconds later it disconnects and says network error no error code or anything and just goes into single player and sometimes completely disconnects from xbox live.

When you go into your network settings what is your NAT type? Have you setup the proper port forwarding needed for Xbox Live.

Are you sure it's not a Xbox Live problem?

Normally issues like that arise from your NAT, happens to me when I don't have the proper port forwarding setup.
