I'm planning on building a gaming PC for around $1,000USD.  I have put together a build that can be upgraded gradually in the future.  I have already bought the case and received a pair of headphones as a gift.  I already have a mouse, keyboard, and a monitor, and while they aren't ideal, they will work for the time being.  Here's the minimum:

I would try to stay away from that board

and I would save $80 by getting 290x's

Any recommendations?

I just bult a computer with the G45 and it does have wicked heatsinks that look like dragons from the side

Don't get the phantom. Get an Enthoo Pro. It is a little bit more expensive, but the phantom is pretty outdated at this point and the pro allows you to water cool in the future if you choose to.
