So yesterday i got my academic status for Microsoft so i can get windows for $70 can I install it on my up coming pc build because it says upgrade from windows 7

If you can get the iso-file from there you can install it directly.

Before purchasing anything. Make sure that you are not part of DreamSpark Premium or MSDNAA. Contact your school IT department for this information. If you are, then you have Windows 7 8 and soon 10 waiting for you, ready to be downloaded. All free.

If you need to buy it, then yea. You'll be getting an ISO. I would strongly suggest to back it up and the product key (put is on a backup external HDD for example), and then burn your disk or prepare a USB flash drive.
