Specs?.. It really could be anything. Your HDD not plugged in or faulty.. Your DVI cable or whatever you try to connect is faulty.. Etc. Also see if the fans are even spinning.. Recheck everything

Your user manual for your motherboard is here

Ensure you have your one stick of memory in the correct slot, proper memory population is shown on page 23 of your user manual.

If that is correct then,

Have you tried a different moniter on your build

Have you tried replacing the 980 with a spare card

Have you tried placing the 980 in a different computer to make sure it works

If it works in a different computer have you tried placing the 980 in a different pcie slot on your build

Also, What is your power supply?

Have you tried a different power supply?

PS: You might want to use more than 4gb of ram in your system as it is a quad channel board and will perform better with 4 sticks of memory to utilize each channel available.

Could it be the ram that cause no post. I see the menu it did not state the ram I'm using

I am unsure what you mean by this, which menu are you looking at? The bios menu?

If you mean the pictures in the manual then yes, put your single stick into the dimm slot marked DIMM_D1 which should be the second slot in the group to the right of the cpu socket (going from left to right in the group).

Yes, having the ram in the wrong slot may cause a no-post error.
