Hey guys

I have been waiting for the EVGA 980 AIO for a while, and it is almost upon us.

There is no news yet about pricing.

So I will be waiting for them to come out and reviewers (Linus hurry) to give us the thumbs up before making a commitment.

But there are already speculating arguments to go AIO custom with the nzxt braket been cheaper and better.

I am worried about the Vram heating up. And ordering those little heats sinks would mean having to wait an other 3 weeks for delivery (based in Asia).

Any of you guys using a similar setup, I am sure going 280mm is overkill, but the price difference is marginal and my futur NZXT P530 can house them all... ( I think, now I am doubting myself about the lower mount).

What is your experience like with the product and the results?

Thanks peeps.

I love my set up.

I have a 780 ti cooled by a 240mm AIO but like the corsair h105 so it is fairly thick secured with NZXT G10 system. I can't get past 55C (average is about 50C) and that is with the fans running at 5V or 40%. My Mosfets and VRAM chips are bare. I have heatsinks and have had since initial install but they fell off (improper installation) it hasn't been an issue and I'm not overclocking so I haven't been too concerned for months now. However I will be ordering double sided thermal tape one day to reattach them and that day is coming as the last time I checked I had a huge build up of dust where the G10 fan blows air onto and so I will have to take everything off to clean that. VRAM and MOSFET temps can't be software monitored because I have a NVIDIA Card so the best I could do was check the back of the PCB were there are and I think its probably hotter on the back of card but that just me. (there isn't a fan blowing right at it so). Anyway temps are around 70-75C when under heavy gaming load, bare in mind that there is a side panel fan blowing cool air at the card as well do to my case layout. (VRAM chips rarely hit 55C and I can access them and get a temp reading with IR thermometer.) I also keep the G10 fan at full speed all the time.

My has been running since the end of JUNE 2014 trouble free so far. AND much quieter than my stock cooler was.

As for radiator size - The larger it is the slower you can run the fans, and the less noise is made without scarifying much in cooler power. However the G10 is painful to install with a large AIO radiator, IMO.

Also its best to have the radiator airflow directed to exhaust, but be careful where that is, install I had mine to exhaust out the bottom of my case but that caused my PSU fan to ramp up to ungodly speed and noises levels. Now they are exhausting into the like a conventional video card, I have a huge volume of hot in air my case and so I need to crank up other case fans and so I can run as quiet but when I'm not under heavy loud I turn my fans down all them way al I can't much now. Probably my favourite part about this setup and perhaps this is because I had a reference card and my fan profile was not designed for this, but even in low demand games it would ramp up the fans speeds on the video and now its just as loud as normally is (whisper quiet) And keeping the airflow moving and the temp inside the case down can also help with VRM/VRAM temperatures.

Now install there is some risk to it, while I haven't heard many stories of people killing there cards it could be fairly easy to do if your not careful and or don't know what your doing. Also some video cards have "mid plates" covering the VRAM and MOSFETS already so many users have left them on and made them work, so juts be cautious about this as it may also require you to shim the pump block.

Anyway TLDR, Its a good mod for added silence, VRM/VRAM temperatures aren't to big of deal as long as you aren't overclocking. It's not really meant for Overclocking IMO, but that is just cause I don't want to risk it other probably have different opinions. Compatibility is fairly good with a few glitches here and there. Install is a little tricky but nothing you can't do, although you may need an extra pair of hands at some points.

Oh yeah and I did this addition to my rig for 3 reasons, To make my rig quieter,  to spend money and play around with computers and finally to advise other people who were curious about doing it themselves.

@Faceman There is another guy who has a really posting of benchmark results and what not but I don't recall the username.

I dont car if ther are grammar mistakes cause i'm to tired to proff red. I also just wrote this out from the top of my head - Faceman usually copies and paste a huge long ass thing.

PS. PHANTOM MASTER RACE  :P

Thanks for the detailed answer, got all I need to know from that ;)

Are you familiar with the phantom 530? Would save me from having to make a new thread, the little fan hole on the side panel, can we mount a single rad config?

Sorry for the delayed response.

Phantom 530, I have a 630 do I not to sure about this but if you can mount a fan you should be able to attached a radiator. Min you it might be a PIA as every time you have to take the side panel off you have to detach the rad from it. And I'm not sure if the added weight would do anything but I doubt it. Finally because I don't one I really don't know there might issues with clearance and space with the bottom of the case and width wise.

BTW I would recommend that if you wait or find a different source of heatsinks if your card doesn't have a midplate on it. I know I said it won't be a huge deal but I think if you can do it you should.

The EVGA GTX 980 Hydro Copper Hybrid will probably be around $599. Going that route would be cheaper than going with a GTX 980 ($550) + G10 ($30) + AIO ($50). Plus the EVGA GTX 980 HCH will offer a warranty unlike voiding the one offered as you tear down an air cooled GPU. I would wait the week it will take for them to launch the product and reviews will reflect the influence of purchasing it or not.

You don't void the warranty on EVGA cards by doing adding the G10 I checked this out, but I don't know for sure about other manufacturers. And if you break it installing the G10 your out of luck but that's only following the same logic as dropping it on the floor, there is just added risk.

Ok one more question lol.

Since I will be in SLI,?can u install both rads side by side on 2 120/140 fan slots? Like at the bottom?
