Hey guys,

I already asked google and found nothing that answers my question...

Which is the lowest power CPU you can get for an actual platform? (1155, 1150, AM1, AM3(+), FM2(+))

The least power using CPUs I found were the Intel Celeron G1840 and the AMD Athlon 5150/5350...

The question is solely about power consumption, but it should be capable of running windows.

I hope you guys can help me...

Best regards,

SkyFall

Uhh is your psu that bad or you can't pay for electricity ? Intel usually win in power consumption so i would look something like a hashwell pentium, celeron, atom.

Something like an i5 4570T for the 1150 socket runs at 35W.

Broadwell will likely see some new low power CPUs when it comes around.

EDIT: Intel Atom CPUs run at extremely low power.

It's just about building a system that runs 24/7 and that consumes as few power as possible.

Since it doesn't really need to do a thing (running windows and office if things get out of hand) performance isn't a point.

With upgradable CPUs.

AMD (personal experience)

Am1 series is the lowest power cpu. It can run windows and many applications well.

Well... Do you have any need for expansion or upgrade?

If not, the NUC and NUC-like (brix etc.) Are some of the best bets for performance and efficiency. You can also look at embedded options such as the Atom.

If needing a replaceable CPU

You can look at a Am1 with a pico psu setup (higher efficiency). You can also look at at what the 1150 socket has available with the T-series CPUs.

If thats the only thing you want get this, it's probably stupidly slow
