Upcoming mods!

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

Think I should just save for an i5 and a Hyper 212 EVO, alongside with a 240GB SSD?

That's what I would do personally. Would give that GPU a CPU and storage medium to match.

So for a while I've been thinking about my PC, and I've decided to do some ghetto modding to fix it up a bit (as far as looks go)

This is my current build:

And now to the mods:

Mainboard I/O cover (modeled after the Formula/Hero mainboards): http://imgur.com/a/0mPfU#0

I'm planning on spraypainting it black, and just dabbing some paint on the ASUS logo.

Spraypainting the chipset heatsinks.

Cover for the RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835236002

VRM Heatsinks (for temps + looks): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708156

In addition, I plan to take out the fans and replace them with Corsair silent fans and one red LED strip.

So, what do you guys think? Are they safe? Are they crazy? Are they decent five foot mods?

If you want quiet for fans I dont think corsair really works and you should really get a fan controller no matter what fans you go with

I personally wouldn't put much effort or money into that rig. Lackluster CPU, garbage motherboard (not going to beat around the bush, they weren't designed to run the FX chips when they were originally released and instead were adapted to do so), slow storage medium and a "meh" cooler could all be fixed by putting aside the money you currently have and saving more.

I do, actually. Might use it if I can't get the 212 EVO right away.

Depends what i5 you are going to get. If you're getting a locked model, then no need to waste money getting a 212 EVO. Honestly even with an unlocked one OC'd it's worth saving up for a noticeably better cooler so you can get the most out of your chip anyways. Personally either way I'd still reuse the Freezer 7.

OK I think I'll be using it.
