So right now I have a y410p gaming laptop but am looking to get a Desktop PC  but I am having some trouble with my choices so far.

1.So my budget is approx. $1500 CAN but this price is with a Monitor. Also am most likely going to use NCIX.com for the PC build.

2. This Computer will mostly be for gaming with some older games but mostly newer games such as star citizen and so on, but it will also be used for 3d software like Inventor and Solidworks.

3.I plan on running only one monitor but with at least a 22" screen

4. Since i already have a mouse from my laptop i will still need to buy a keyboard for this build.

5. My laptop now has a i7-4700MQ 8gb of ram and a gt755m and it cannot run most of the newer games at very high graphics quality along with its only 14" screen size.

GPU:

I would recommend a cpu cooler cause the stock cooler is very loud and not that useful

That's what i've got on my i5 right now: http://www.amazon.ca/ARCTIC-Freezer-Cooler-Intel-Cooling-Capacity/dp/B0048F64DU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426709879&sr=8-1&keywords=arctic+freezer+13

Very easy to install

For a cheap gaming monitor with good price to performance i wood choose the BenQ RL2455HM

Everything else is alright but i would delete everything at Additional cause i think you won't need it...

Sorry for my bad english...

For $1500 you could do a lot better.

Tips

1.) Switch the HDD from seagate to western digital

2.) Use Amazon (if possible.)

3.) Compromise some parts to upgrade the GPU to something like a 970 (of equal performance or better)

You can find good build logs for $1500 on youtube from tech channels if you cant choose parts your self.

This advise is controversial of course. $1500 for you may be different than $1500 for me.

Good luck!

With that decently sized budget, I suggest you consider a GTX 970, they are only ~$300USD.

an ASUS VG248QE would also be great for your build but it depends on whether  you prefer accurate color or the great response times/refresh rate that the ASUS VG248QE has

I had a similar budget and this was what I went for:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($189.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3P ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($109.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($64.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($332.99 @ Amazon)
Case: NZXT Phantom 530 (White) ATX Full Tower Case  ($120.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer  ($19.78 @ Directron)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 - 64-bit (OEM) (64-bit)  ($92.00 @ B&H)
Monitor: Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor  ($264.99 @ B&H)
Total: $1419.96

My build might go over a bit since you are only buying from NCIX. I recommend buying from other cheaper options when available.

Im sure you could downgrade some stuff you dont necessarily need such as an SSD if necessary.

Feel free to use your own Case/keyboard if you want.
