Does it matter?

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Yeah, I sort of thought there wouldn't really be a problem.

I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks

Yeah they're just generally not considered "gaming" products cause they look plain and don't light up... if you don't mind that then no need to spend 2.5x the price

I've finished the planning of my build, and I'm now planning on which keyboard, mouse, and monitor I should get.

Does it really matter if I'm spending like 20 bucks on basic Microsoft mouse and keyboard?

I don't know much about how they work, and don't know much about computers.

(I'm a noob trying to build my first rig)

I was thinking about buying these.

That keyboard isn't even mechanical so personally I wouldn't buy it. Of course that said mechanical keyboards are rather pricy unless you manage to catch one on a nice deal like the one I'm typing on right now ( http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/trigger/) which was $60ish when I bought it. If you're on a tight budget however I wouldn't recommend a "gaming" membrane keyboard (unless you simply prefer the feel of membrane keys over mechanical ones) since you would still be getting membrane key switches which in my opinion aren't worth more than $5-$10. Even if it has all the bells and whistles of mechanical keyboards.

As for your mouse, 2000DPI would drive mad but that's because I'm used to 3500DPI. That said I guess it would be an okay mouse but in my opinion try to find something better.

Edit sorry for a slow response but I like to take my time with my posts :D

Main difference is preference, $20 is a great starting point and if later you want better you will have more cash! (you dont need to go better though)

I had the Microsoft 6000 keyboard for the longest time and it's HELL. It's curved. Why. Is. A. Keyboard. Curved. Impossible to type properly on, and hard to clean. Also disconnected while in game alot. (Only 2 feet away from unobstructed receiver)

The mouse was OK. Fit in my hand nicely.
