So I've been looking at reviews and posts on different heaphones. There are mixed opinions. Would like to hear what consumers have to say. The budget is £150 or $220. Please tell me any of your experiences and any pros/cons

Headphones I've looked into buying:

ATH-AD500X from Audio Technica

Microphone:

Modmic from AntLion

CPU: Intel i7-4790K @ 4.7GHz --- RAM: Lenovo 1600MHz 16GB --- MOBO: Gigabyte Z97-G7 --- GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0+--- PSU: Corsair CX600 --- Case: Corsair Air 540 --- Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 --- OS: Windows 8.1 --- Monitor: 24" AOC G2460P + Dell 19" --- Mouse: Logitech MX Perfromance --- Keyboard: Corsair K70 (Cherry MX Brown) --- Audio: Sennheiser HD558

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

I wouldn't recommend the wing design of the audio technicas. I had to do some pretty severe mod to make them comfortable. The antlion modmic has some constant static noise issue for a lot of people as well (they sound good in mumble / teamspeak because those softwares remove the static, but they're not good with OBS). They are however not an entirely bad choice.

If I knew about this, I probably would've went for Sennheiser HD558 / Blue Yeti desktop mic tbh

Hardware: 4790k @ 4.6 GHz w/ H100i - MSI GTX 970 - Define R5 - MSI Z97 PC Mate - 840 EVO - G.Skill 2x4 GB

Peripherals: G402 - ATH-AD700x - Asus VG248QE 144 hz

Used AD700 initially, then upgraded to HE-400. Couldn't be happier. Replacing the crazy wideness feeling of the AD700 with A LOT better sounds. In the beginning I thought of rotating them, HE-400 for music and movies, AD700 for gaming. In the end, HE-400 is more awesome. The sound is so real, that playing FPS feels like watching a movie in a good cinema.

All it takes is a rubber band to hold the wings together, or so I hear. Personally, I don't like the look of them, though.

Sennheiser is good one.

10/10 most helpful post ever.

Ok, thanks for the replies. I have decided to go with the HD 558s from Sennheiser and the AT2020 from Audio Technica as the Mod Mic is not recommended (static noise issue for some programs)

Also at this time there is a sale for the 558s which means a lower price.

Price: £169

Bit over budget but £19 won't do harm
