AMD's last series was 7000, 200 series was actually a tad bit of a joke cause Nvidia had an 8k series then went down to 200... so AMD sorta followed suit and that's a remnant of the fact they nearly named it the 8k series

Yup, if you search you can find the older cards before they were renamed to the 200's that follow the same numbering system :)

Same cards, different names.

The 8xxx series AMD cards are OEM versions of the 7XXX series. If it's a 270x then it will most likely be the drivers confusing it with an OEM card for some reason because 7870=8870=270x

Installed the drivers and then it told me there was a new version SO MORE FUCKING WAITING...

I hate drivers right now...especially since I'm only using this card for 2 days...

Honestly I commonly just sit on old drivers for 3 months or til drivers known to be good come out as to save time...

This is why I don't use the "auto detect" drivers. If you just select your card in the first place it all goes smoothly.

How do I find out what my frames per second  is?

Fraps, afterburner overlays. There are a few utilities now that will display frame rates in the corner of the screen for you. I just use whatever GPU overclocking utility I have installed at the time. At the moment I've got EVGA precision X installed and it does the job pretty well
