Hey guys, I have a hyper 212 evo CPU cooler installed with my AMD 8320. It seems to be doing a really good job, I have really good idle temps and it never surpasses 54 under load. The only problem is that the fan that came with the cooler is very noisy. While idle, the system is very quiet, and even under load it's not that loud, but I'm going to be overclocking my CPU soon and I'm just a little concerned about the noise levels. So my question is this: I have an extra corsair fan that came with my 200R case and those fans are actually surprisingly quiet. Would it be okay for me to replace the Hyper Evo's fan with the Corsair fan? And if you could give me an explanation I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much for your help!!!

yes, you can use any 120mm fan as long as its not crazy looking and wont fit. i like these, corsair seem overpriced and can be loud, not louder than stock evo fan.

Sure, I'd try it, seeing if it were quiet enough and moved enough air.

The Evo fan has a 4 pin fan cable and the corsair ones only have 3. What exactly does that mean???

Did exactly what you did, it works completely fine.  I put 2 120SPs in Push/pull on that thing and it stays below 75 easily at 1.285v on my 4790k.

These corsair fans are the ones that came with the case though. I'm not sure that their static pressure optimized. The fans are A1225M12S. I'm just not sure how well they would do with the CPU.

Tell me about the blades on the fan.  Are they wide blades?  Can you easily put your finger through the holes between the blades?  If the fans have large blades that make it hard to stick your finger through, they should be pressure optimized.

Yeah I actually just read about fans. You can put your finger between these particular fans so their air flow optimized. I'll eventually get a quieter SP fan for my heatsink but for right now I'll just set the the Evo fan to be quiet. Thanks for your help!
