I have been having something of an issue with Windows Update failing to work properly. I've Googled the issue extensively but found no real fix. I determined that the fixes hadn't worked for me because the issues others had also included other error codes, but mine does not have any errors other than this one. The issue started with a recent reinstall of Windows after I got a second SSD to RAID 0 with my first (ran out of space, didn't have need for redundancy with monthly backups). I believe the issue came up when I started using Write-back as my caching method, and fiddled with my overclock a few weeks later. I'd forgotten about setting write-back, so I'm somewhat concerned there might be an issue with corrupted data. I reimaged my install flash drive for Lubuntu, but can easily reimage another time with Windows if I have a need to run a repair with the original Windows iso. Probably left something out in here, so I'll update the OP as I remember information that gets asked of me.

I've run chkdsk, fsutil, SFC, and a number of other diagnostic commands that always return no errors.

Thanks for the help.

Just noticed that I had one update succeed recently. It was a simple update, and I would probably be more worried if this one failed over some of the other ones. The update that succeeded was a Windows Security Essentials definition update and it's the only update that has succeeded since the definition update on the 12th. Updates weren't working prior to that update, but I thought I'd mention that those are the only successful updates I've had. (I believe they're managed by Security Essentials itself and the update is recorded to Windows Update. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

Tried using a Windows iso to run chkdsk and sfc, neither returned any errors.
