Painting ram?

Basically i have switched from a blue and black theme to a red and white theme.. my ram is blue and it seems like a waste to buy new ram just for the color. Would it be possible to paint the heatsinks? What type of paint would i use? Good dark red color to use? Ram is corsair vengeance

Adding paint will reduce the thermal efficiency of the heat spreaders, but not by anywhere near enough to do any damage.

 

I have the same issue as I have bright orange RAM in a blue/black build and I ordered some gunmetal grey and also some blue plasti dip (the gunmetal is a base to make sure the blue comes out dark).

 

I might go back with some proper paint at a later date but plasti dip will probably be sufficient.

Yes it is possible to paint the heatsinks.

 

Take the heatsink off, paint it, and then put it back on. I like to scuff up the original heatsink a bit so that the paint sticks on better

Of course you can paint the heat spreaders and pretty much any paint will do.  You don't need to worry about high temp paint as RAM only really gets a bit warm. If you want to be able to go back to the original look you can use plasti dip instead of paint.

it can be easy to custom paint ram just be very careful.
