the 300V is kinda of an old SSD, (and as i recall has less reliable memory controllers), everything else looks good, imo id go with 2 970's instead of a 980 and go with a nice 750 W PSU

id switch that I7 for a 4690K; and 1866Mhz ram, its not gonna be noticable at all in games (for rendering keep the I7 and 2400Mhz ram)

ITX Monster: CPU: I5 4690K GPU: MSI 970 4G Mobo: Asus Formula VI Impact RAM: Kingston 8 GB 1600MHz PSU: Corsair RM 650 SSD: Crucial MX100 512 GB HDD: laptop drive 1TB Keyboard: logitech G710+ Mouse: Steelseries Rival Monitor: LG IPS 23" Case: Corsair 250D Cooling: H100i

Mobile: Phone: Broken HTC One (M7) Totaly Broken OnePlus ONE Samsung S6 32GB   Tablet: Google Nexus 7 2013 edition

the crucail mx100 250gb is the same as samsung evo 120 so go crucail for ssd

and as stated above

change 1x980 to 2x970 (if DX12 is what its supposed to be this will make your pc even better)

ram you can go to 1600mhz or 1866 but you wont see a difference for gaming

and rather go 4690k

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 @1500mhz + 8000Mhz CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k Delided and Overclocked @4.8  MB: ASUS MAXIMUS VIII IMPACT  RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory CPU Cooler: Corsair HG10+ H90 +H90 CASE: Corsair 380T  Storage: 120GB Samsung Evo SSD + Crucail 256GB Mx100 + 2TB Seagate/  OS: Windows 10 64bit Power supply:  Corsair RM750

Dont get the V300, It is slow for a SSD, Almost any other is better, Id recommend a 840 evo or a mx100

I think im going to replace the ssd with a crucail ssd with 128 GB instead of the 256 GB bacause it is more expensive and im going to keep the 980 because ive heard that amd gpu are getting more hotter then a nvidia gpu and because it looks better imo.

But what kind of psu do I need. I can see that there have been suggested a 750w and a 500/550w psu. So im a little confused.

PS. thanks for that quick reply :)

The GPU brand is mainly personal preference, AMD doesnt have any equivalent to the GTX 980, Yet.

The R9 290 is a heater on steroids, But the aftermarket coolers get the job done(Apart from the DirectCUII)

Why?

To upgrade in the future he would need to buy a completely new set of cards, hes better off with 1 980 for now and getting another one in the future if he wants to upgrade.

There's tons of benchmark videos on this.

1. 980's are overpriced

2. 970 in SLI are the best Price to performance atm

3. they look awesome

They may be "overpriced" but youre paying for performance.

another 980 down the line would blow the 2 870's out of the water.

who says he event wants to invest another 600 bucks for a second 980, im just saying that for the price of a 980 he can get 2 970's and those blow that 980 out of the water

youre paying for performance? would we pretty pathetic if you payed more and didnt get more performance....

It just makes more sense for the future, he started his thread saying he was getting a 980...why not let him get him a 980 and give him the option to get another 980 in the future.........?

im not gonna go to his house and force him to buy 2 970, im just saying that, if i were in his position, i would buy 2 970's, and as far as i can see, he's asking what we would do if we where him...
