r9 270x Problems

Go to solution Solved by Sakkura,

1. You can use techpowerup or wikipedia for that.

1a. It's factory overclocked.

1b. See above.

1c. Why?

2. MSI Afterburner is probably the most popular utility, and you even have an MSI card. It's fine.

ill make it simple.

1. i cant find the Base specifications for it.......its annoying that the AMD website just clumps them all together. kinda hard to do a comparison when its like that.

1.a. the r9 270x i have is the twin frozr MSI version. im trying to find out what its normal Core clock and Memory clock is. because i believe its over clocking it.

1.b. Upon restarting my computer. it starts the r9 270x @ 1080mhz Core Clock and 1400 Memory clock.

1.c I keep setting it to 1030mhz Core Clock and 1120 mhz Memory Clock because i think thats normal as provided by the new egg specification list...no idea though.

2. Im using MSI Afterburner to mess with the settings. is there a better program for this particular card?

3. If i ever wanted to upgrade to water cooling which water block would i get/ where would i buy it?

4. the reason i want to stop the overclocking is because its causing a 124 bcc error code...or i most likely think its the culprit.

It's 1030 base and 1120 MHz boost. Anyway, a factory overclock shouldn't be causing problems. If it is, well, I would RMA the card.

i uhhh. got it off ebay for 80$ new. no RMA came with it.

>the price you pay for ebay. but it was my only chance to get a card this well.

Damn, that sucks. I hope you can get it to work at lower clocks at least.

well thats the thing. it works great. it just 100% randomly decides to "blue screen" my system i mean i kept this thing running 24/7 for 2 weeks and no bluescreens. and then once i opened notepad and BAM bsod again with 124 error. but i could run furmark for 5 hours with no problems. it was just random when it decided to fail. and i put bluescreen in quote cause some times it would just do THIS

and keep everything running and not generate a blue screen.

switched out every piece of hardware. did a bunch of stuff. found out my card was over clocked...this is honestly my last resort to fixing the 124 error.

and yeah. funny story about that. was for a kids birthday. but his mom got him a 970 gtx. and dad got him the r9 270x...didnt even open it. i got it fresh mint in box. just no rma or anything. sucks a bit atm. but for 80$ its not bad. just hope the base clock fixes it.
