Upgrades/Certain Peices Assistance

Go to solution Solved by Equilibrium_FOOL,

thank you very much equilibrium. the adapter is the same on ei looked at. but is it any good?

and the 212 is what i wanted to go. good to have another opinion on how well it is.

as for the case. it doesnt look like it could intake air from the front. sooo

yeah 2/3 isnt bad c:

EDIT Post below

Here are the 3 cases i was thinking of getting.

im particularly looking at the second one...mostly because it has a great open front for a nice fan.

The adapter will work fine, even if its lifespan isn't so good, as if you are using IDE drives its time to upgrade.

The 212 keeps my 4790k @4.5 GHz under 35 degrees while at idle, and just over 70 degrees with a load.

Anyone of those cheap cases will work, however the build quality may be lacking, and some versitility may be comprimised.  Almost all cases intake from the front, so deciding which case to buy based on that may be slightly silly.

Good luck building!

Ok so im looking for upgrades. and certain wires.

I have an old IDE HDD. and i have no way of hooking it up. im looking for an IDE to SATA cable or adapter...either one. ive tried shopping places but honestly i have no idea which ones work or not/ which ones are good.

And i want to cool my system more. as summers coming i dont think my stock cooler is gonna cut it.

I want a cooler for my CPU. its an AMD-FX 8320. now the only problem with this is. i have....sort of a small case. so i cant go with a huge heat sink. say like the silver line extreme.
I was either thinking the Corsair h70 for cheapo cruddy water cooling or the cooler master hyper 212

also id like to point out i do NOT care about how loud my system is. it could literally sound like a jet engine turbine and i wouldnt care. right now its around 50-70 Db. so as i said sound doesnt matter.

Also looking for a good case. a mid ATX. would be nice. but i dont wanna spend anymore then 40$ on it. id prefer it not be all flashy and special looking. i like my cases simple. but i would want good airflow naturally.

soooo tips from the real pros please? Thanks for the advice in advance.

ALSO im kind of on a tight budget...keep that in mind.

also sorry this wasnt in the right place. thanks for moving.

Any Ide to Sata adapter is fine, unless you want to spend far to much money.

I found this for $4, although the lifespan may not be so decent.

Personally I would recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, for its great price/performance, and silence (I know you care little about this).

The NZXT Source 210 is good, albeit $5 over your budget.

well thats a little high for my tastes....then again im just using a non overclocked fx 8320 so i think itll be awesome.

the build quality of the cases wouldnt really bother me as......have ya seen what im using now? its basically an oil drum covered in rust compared to those. im not to much wild about looks. but some cases i looked at. have a full steel/plastic plate on the front. not allowing front air intake. .

and the IDE wouldnt be to USE really. i have an old IDE...from an old computer. and i have no idea whats on it. plus when i repair other peoples computers it would help......most people in this town are in their 80's im guessing thats the time they got their computers from too. so itd help alot. thank you for your help equilibrium :P
