Updated, not electricity problem. but after done virus scan (no thread found) the problem still occurred

Does unstable electricity affecting my pc performance? Few days ago I found out that electricity for my house were unstable, and I didnt bought ups/stabilizer for my computer. But I don't know, I bought my pc from like 5-6 months ago, but now my pc is so slow. It opens program or file terribly slow. Does this problems were caused by unstable electricity? If I buy ups/stabilizer, is it worth the money (for now, my pc hardware is in good condition, just some software problem)? And does anyone know any other information to make any changes for my pc performance?

Btw my pc spec is:

Intel i3-3220

Asus HD7790 1GB

Asus P8H61-m RX2.0

1TB hdd WDC blue caviar

2x4GB v-gen memory

500watt power supply (not popular brand, with 80+ sticker but I don't think it's legit)

Thanks before

It won't affect the speed of the PC or it's performance as much as the lifespan of the parts or likelihood of death due to sudden power outages causing corrupt data to power surges that can damage the components.

What you ahem sounds like malware or something you have have downloaded unknowingly, run malwarebytes or CCcleaner to make sure you have nothing on it.

I don't think that unstable power would slow down anything to do with running the computer day to day. If you run into brown-outs, it could cause your computer to power off while you are in the middle of something. A UPS/Surge protector is ALWAYS worth it, because when the power goes out, you will have a surge of power go through the lines, and it can ruin PC components.

As far as the slowdowns are concerned, it could have to do with how full your HDD is. If it's more than about 2/3 full, you can start running into performance issues.

As the two above me have stated, it could very well be a virus. Malwarebytes and Ccleaner are both very useful for removing things like that, I've cleaned a couple of computers with those two pieces of software, and they wrok very well.

if its the Electricty then your monitor should be darken or brighten like a flicker and the lights around you too. But it never hurts to get a stabilizer, i once had mini surges and decided to get one... its REALLY noisy when theres a surge. And it doesnt affect speed at all, please get an Anti Virus, could be a virus, could be too late, could need a reformat

when was the last time you defragmented your HDD?

unstable power could probably affect PC stability, but if you aren't getting Blue screens, it isn't, and I doubt it would.

Maybe few weeks or a month ago

Just did quick scan, no thread found and after the scan finished, the lag goes again. It won't open anything until I forced restart it (unplugging power cable then replug it)

Going to try defragmented my hdd

Dont think tha unstable power would cause it to run slow. I've been having problems with BSOD and im thinking its my crap surge protector. Sounds to me like you have a virus, download malwarebytes and it should clean up whats out there. Also a HDD defragmentation wouldn't hurt. Or reformat and re-install Windows.

Did you check for malware?

Sometimes malware uses system resources.

For example the other day I have a bitcoin miner malware :P

Does ccleaner also clean malware? Or should I use other app such malwarebytes like suggested before?

MalwareBytes can be used with a free license and is probably the best anti malware available.

Unfortunately ccleaner does not clean malware, it more cleans junk files.

Well malware scan shows no thread either. What should I do now?

BTW while I was scanning malware, the explorer stopped working twice.

  1. Clean Junk
  2. Scan Virus

    Clean Virus

  3. Defrag

So if you did all that chances are... Heat? Have you checked them they may under-clock if not just do a clean install of windows
