Thoughts on E Readers?

What are your thoughts on E Readers (Or Ebook Readers or whatevs)

 

Do you think they're worth getting an extra device for, Is it worth getting something frontlit etc.

I'm thinking of getting a Kindle Paperwhite myself.

When you get one the books cost a lot less though xD

At least here the price of a Kindle is less than 4 regular books.

I have a regular kindle (last gen i think, with the buttons), and I find it super useful for everything apart from books, actually. I still like having hard copies of books sometimes, except for short reads, really expensive books, or ones that are almost impossible to find (like something out of print), which i'll then just pop onto the kindle.

So i end up using my kindle mainly for articles i pull off the web, essays, and wikipedia articles to read during travelling, while watching documentaries, etc. So for that i find it to be fantastic.

There's actually a pretty sweet chrome extension called "Push To Kindle" that pulls text from any web page, and (most of the time), properly formats it and emails it directly to your kindle.

The eink ones are nifty. The tablet ones are a bit pointless. Might as well get a regular tablet, although reading a lot on those will probably hurt your eyes.

Yeah the e-reader has advantages over a regular book like easy to read in the dark and better than tablets since they hurts your eyes. All in all, if you want to do a good amount of reading then get a Kindle Paperwhite or Kobo Glo :)

I like the e-ink readers for longer reading sessions. The tablet screen can get to be hard on the eyes.

I'm pretty sure it can't be marketed as an e reader if it doesn't use e ink.

 

 

For my situation, i read a bit and would like to read more, but right now i pretty much only have my laptop to read on and sitting with it in bed is both uncomfortable ergonomically and hurts the eyes after a bit. I'm thinking about the kindle paperwhite (E Ink with front lighting so it only lights the page, and not the room it's in), would you say it's worth it?
