For the longest time I wanted to build an arcade machine. I miss playing in arcades. I had a few questions regarding how to do about it.

I have a dying laptop and was wondering if its even worth the trouble to use and repurpose those parts or just build something with newer parts.

My other question is regarding set up. I want to be able to have the machine load directly to a gamelist or a game. How would I go about doing this. I believe MAME is capable of this, but I don't know how to do about doing it.

Would their be a way to automap the buttons (going to be using arcade sticks) for every game. I would hate to have to go into every game and set up all the controls 1 by one.

What I would recommend would be to physically build an arcade case and paint it with whatever (just the outside part you're building) then put together a PC inside that and run an emulator with game you want

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

This was my intention (I assume just go all new parts). I have the arcade sticks ready to go into a custom case that would be used within the cabinet. I have a monitor ready to go as well (may need to get a bigger one). Now it's just a matter of parts and learning how to set up the emulator. I'm definitely going to use MAME. Just don't know how to set it up properly for game use only. I dont want to switch back to windows to change games or anything of that nature.

I was originally planning on making a cab using a neo geo system that allowed for multiple carts (like the old neo geo arcade machines), and than I saw the price lol.

Idk if this helps or not:

You sir . . . have been nothing short of helpful since I started posting on LTT. Thanks for the video. There are things in the video that I have not considered, which I will take into consideration now.
