What's the best I can do with ~1500 CAD?

nims0c

I'm thinking about what I can build for about 1500 CAD. This budget includes all components, a copy of Windows 8/8.1, a headset, and an XL mouse pad. I already have a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse.

This PC would be for 1080p gaming (CS:GO and the latest AAA titles), watching Twitch streams, and basic productivity.

Here's my take:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($258.32 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Motherboard: Asus Z87-Pro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($183.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($80.19 @ DirectCanada)
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($129.16 @ DirectCanada)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE Video Card  ($424.66 @ TigerDirect Canada)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($133.98 @ DirectCanada)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32/64-bit)  ($109.26 @ DirectCanada)
Headphones: Kingston HyperX Cloud Pro Headset  ($71.27 @ DirectCanada)
Other: Mouse pad ($30.00)
Total: $1588.41

Justification:
-i5-4690K and Hyper 212 EVO for light overclocking
-Z87-PRO because I want WiFi
-SSD is a must; I can use my family's NAS for extra storage if I really need to
-I like the aesthetics of the Define R5 and that it has a lot of noise-dampening material
-reviews of HyperX Cloud/Cloud II are great
-colour-matching is not important

Are there any areas in which I can save a lot of money?

I appreciate your help!

This build is pretty solid. You might want to get a z97 mobo, but as far as I know the mobo you chose should have no problems supporting OC'ing for the refresh chips. Damn these canadian prices...

I'd say you've done the best anyone could, it's a great build.  :D

Great! Thanks.

Thanks. Ya I read that it should be fine with a BIOS update.
