Hi,

I have just started my computer science degree at university. And i am advised to bring a laptop to class

However my current laptop is waay to thick to take with me.

So I am looking for a rather slim laptop (maybe even a tablet with keyboard) that is also affordable (up to about $600).

I would like to have the following specs:

  • Usb 3.0, ethernet, hdmi out, headphone and microphone jack and sd card slot
  • between 10" and 15" screen size
  • at least 120GB of storage (most storage will be on my nas anyway)
  • windows

I hope someone can find me a device that can meet these expectations.

I am going to use this laptop primarily for programming. but also for in-class note taking and casual web browsing, no heavy gaming or other demanding software.

the real question here is how much you are gonna do with it.

- basic text editing

- photoshop

- editing movies (probably not)

- programming

- rendering

- light gaming (we all do this at school at one point)

also: at some point it gets more affordable to buy a better backpack, and a more bulky laptop.

i personally have a backpack made for 17inch laptops, and a samsung rc530, which works quite well.
