Some hdd questions

Hi guys.

I have a WD black 1tb as my storage device ( OS/games/programs are running on an ssd). Anyway, every time i open it to get a file or even when another programs needs access to a file from it, i hear the spinning noise like it's always starting and it takes like 2-3 secs to open it. It doesnt bother me at all but i just want to know if its normal cause my last hdd broke down after i got the ssd and it started to do the same on/off thing this one does.

Is it bad? Can it cause damages to the hdd constantly switching from both stages? is there a way to keep it always on (assuming it goes on and off when its used or not) ?

You have power saving features enabled causing the drive to spin down, until requiring access.

The HDD shuts itself off when not in use. It won't break your drive, if you want it to be on all the time you can probably change some power settings and you will be good to go.

Oh i was worried that it might damage it. And yeah i had that setting on!
