In regards to games, if you are serious about hosting a server (i'm talking 24/7 operation and a significant amount of people) you should just invest in a hosting service. If you really have to have the server(s) running on your own hardware, an Intel Xeon E3 processor, 16-32 gigs of RAM, any cheap 1150 board that supports all the C266 chipset, and a couple of TB of storage should be fine for hosting 50+ people on a minecraft server and a website. It really depends on how much usage this server is going to get.

Honestly though, you really should just use hosting services of some kind. Paying a small fee per month for absolutely everything is much more cost effective than dropping $500+ on a new server that may see limited usage.

granted I could pay for a server but I would rather pay to own rather than rent :P

Judging by that you obviously don't know what 24/7 operation is like to your electricity bill. When there's a blackout or even a small downtime can literally be a huge blow to your REP as a server. Not to mention running Consumer grade products 24/7 can easily decrease lifespan by huge margin. for short upkeep for this kind of thing is not worth it unless you have commercial grade equipment and backup power/parts.

It's still better to go for a hosting service. They'll have Commercial grade equipment tested to take on 24/7 operations under heavy loads.
