Just downloaded Star Citizen! Can't wait until the full version to come out!

 

I found that flying and dogfighting is really hard to learn. Are there any tips and tricks from experienced players to help me out?

Don't stop moving and don't do that ridiculous rubber band thing (zoom towards each other, turn, repeat). Learn how to uncouple your thrusters to fly backwards. You're squishy. Be more maneuverable. Remember the best shield is not getting shot.

Use afterburner when you exit fast bends it will decrease the slide effect. Use AB when you want to stop rapidly.

learn to roll and bank left and right rather than pitching as it's easy to black/red out, get use to the throttle as you'll want to work yourself behing most ship as the Mustang is fragile but it's small and fast so hard to hit, your dumb fire missiles will cause ships to lose control so that is a good way of getting out of a fight to replenish your shields however they are hard to hit with.

 

With the mustang you are bottom of the food chain, so don't expect to be able to take on Hornets without a fight.

Speaking of loosing control, use your afterburner to stabilise a death spin quicker.

I would also be willing to fly some matches with you, we just need to coordinate times.

Use boost combined with spacebreak to stop faster, and boost in increments, or you just waste more temporary fuel (it regens itself...).

 

 

I prefer decoupled flight without safeties. It allows you to move using momentum and inertia, meaning the computer doesn't correct your flight path every time you turn. This allows you to stop being rammed and makes it harder for them to hit you.

 

 

Also, use your countermeasures often enough. You will likely never run out in either vanduul or in spectrum matches.
