Just got a new PC used abit for a 2 month now, but recently I found out on msi afterburner that my cpu temp is idleing at around 30C which I think is normal (water cooled) but at some random times the temp would jump up to around 50C and go to normal again, and I found out when benchmarking the msi afterburner cpu temp dosent match the other program cpu temps. What is going on? Please help.

System specs:

GPU: Gtx 970

CPU: i7 4790k @ 4,00 GHZ

16 GB RAM

Z97-c Motherboard

windows 7

Sorry for my english and for been a noob, pretty new here :P

The random times it goes up may just be background process's doing their normal thing...

Maybe one has silent/background updates happening, like most software does.

If the CPU usage spikes become more common, look at task manager and see what process is taking up CPU cycles.

CPU temps being different.. dunno about that one,.. maybe using a different sensor, or the software itself is reading it wrong, and one is right.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Afterburner isn't very accurate on cpu temps. I always use HWmonitor for that.

Msi afterburner is not a very accurate tool to measure your temps, I would use CPUID HWMonitor if i was you, Either way if those temps are even remotely accurate your temps are perfectly normal, My 4770k with a custom water cooling loop does very similar things and oddly almost exactly the same temps to :P
