Trying to decided what's the better choice here for my builds.

I'm giving my mom my old PC parts to build her a computer.

FX 4300, cheap AsRock board, 8gb rab, 550w xfx bronze psu.

Now where my question lies is:

Should I buy her a budget card for $130 or so, going to use the computer for light gaming, school work, and web surfing.

Or

Give her my old XFX 7950 3gb card which I just got refurbed, and get myself a new card for around $250?

Suggestions on what cards do low budget and for $250.

SNIP

selling her your old car and getting yourself a new card sounds like the best solution for everyone

since you are still only spending like 100-150, but you are BOTH getting a good card

Selling something to your mom? Whaaat? :D That is just wrong in my opinion. (Unless it is really really expensive in the first place like a car/house).

I disagree, me and my parents always help each other out, I buy things from him, he buys things from me, like when I wanted a new phone, my dad also wanted a new one, so he said he would buy mine off me, to help me afford the new one etc, and I have done similar things back for him, money is not an unlimited resource for either of us

obviously if I could afford to, I would give my parents everything I could, but I cant,

My build kidna got changed to this.

My mom is gonna kill me when I tell her imma spend $1500 instead of $1200...

I have about $300 of wiggle room to get my mom a CPU, Mobo, OS, and HDD...motherboard needs to have onboard usb 3.0 headers...

Only game she is gonna touch is Sims and Bully so it's not really going to be made for gaming lol

looks good, your motherboard is z87 and might need a bios update before you can play with the 4690k i believe. if you want a save some money and and not planning sli, get a good 600 watt psu.

Edit: your poor mother, she did give birth to you, give here a little more money for her build and get a 290x just my 2 cents as a son.

The card is refurbed from the factory and she said that she just wants to use it.

So she is going to use it since spent almost a month fighting them to refurb it.

Yeah I got this giant red flag on pc part picker about a bio updaaate.

I like my corsair stuff and the 650w was only 10 bucks less so meh lol!

If I can find a second one of those cards in a few months then I might add a second one for the fun of it.

Do you think I can do something a little better on the Mobo, CPU, HDD, and OS?

I know I want the 3.0 headers because the case has them and I know the OS has to be windows 7 or she is going to kill me...

Intel Pentium seemed decent for the money but maybe I can get her AMD for $300 and she'd get 4 cores vs 2?
