Triple DisplayPort MST Issues

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

Yes.

DP hubs are notoriously expensive. I was hoping for a solution, rather than an expensive work around.

Seems like it's actually a 'verified' issue with the monitor. From what I've found, Dell have pretty much said, "there's issues, we're not recalling the monitor".

There's a Reddit post that covers some of the issue, but as far as solutions go, there doesn't seem to be anything.

Hey,

I'm having trouble with my 3 Dell U2414H s. They are all daisy chained to one mini DP connector on my 7970. The problems:

  • Sometimes the 3rd monitor does not show any image. It is detected by the system though. It just enters power saving mode and eventually, after 120 seconds or more, final displays an image. http://puu.sh/gm6zw/0d071be6c5.png
  • Sometimes one of the monitor shows up as a Generic Non-P&P monitor which locks the resolution to unusable levels and stops monitors further along the chain being detected.

Power cycling the first monitor in the chain a few times fixes both issues, but it would be nice to find a permanent solution.

Thanks,

Ghost

Does it happen regardless of the order of the monitors? Could be an issue with one of the ports.

I guess if you can't find a solution, a DP hub could work. I think Club3D have one.

-snip-

That's a real shame, I thought it was an issue with my drivers or settings. Thanks.

It sounds like MST works with 2 monitors, and that the thrid one is the issue. I guess that having two daisy chained, then having the third on a DVI to DP (don't think it needs ot be active if it's not for Eyefinity) should work. Or just with the third on straight HDMI.

Yah, I'm just going to go with my "work-around" which is just to use both M-DP ports on my GPU.

Yeah, the U2414H has some problems reported with daisy-chaining. I haven't had these issues with either of my U2414Hs or my U2415 so it's possible to get some without issues if you want to try getting them replaced, but it's probably better to just use multiple connectors rather than daisy chaining unless you need them for sosmething else.
