Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about getting an A+ certification to make it easier to find comp tech jobs in my area, but I have a few questions before I take the test:

1) Is this certification the best certification I can go for? Are there other certifications I should be going for in addition to the A+?

2) How useful are the study guides for the certification tests?

3) Does anyone else here have an A+ certification?

4) Does Linus have any certifications? (this one's just for my curiosity haha)

So, I would definitely say, go for the A+ certification. There are a lot of jobs for repair shops, school districts, government offices that list "AA in Computer Science or A+ Certification" as a requirement. It's proof of a level of competency in general hardware repair, Windows repair, and networking. It's a great jumping off point.

Study guides are actually pretty helpful. I preferred Professor Messer's online video tutorials.

I have the A+ and it helped me find a new job very quickly.

As for other certifications, the A+ is a base. You then have Security+, Network+, ACMT, Cisco, Microsoft has certifications. It all depends on what you're wiling to study and learn.

  • 5 months later...

Sorry to bump a slightly old topic, but I figured doing so would be better than creating a new topic that is very similar to this one.

I am currently in pursuit of a contract job that requires an ACMT certification and would like and A+ certification, although it is not required.  I am planning on doing both as soon as I can, and I'm not overly concerned about the A+ exam, but I was wondering if it was beneficial based on the content and study material to take and pass the A+ certification before attempting the ACMT certification?

EDIT:  I just checked the rules and noticed that LTT's definition of thread necroing is considered to be 1 month old.  I apologize for breaking that rule, I'm not intending to cause any disruptions or anything.
