Hi, i've upgraded my CPU and motherboard and now I want to reinstall the os. I have a cd which contains different versions of Windows 7. I tried every single one of them but they all seem to stop at roughly 60% when expanding windows files. I tried many times but to no avail. I looked on the internet and a lot of people said it could be down to bad RAM, so i tried with one ram stick out but still didnt work. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

did you whipe the the HDD/SSD before installing?

did you clear the CMOS?

can you try ubuntu just to make sure its not a hardware problem?

Yes I chose to format the hard drive

I havent cleared the CMOS, my mate told me to use Ubuntu but I haven't yet.

Its either a failed HDD or bad RAM.

Put both ram sticks back in.

Grab memtest86, stick it on a flash drive, boot it up and run for one full pass. It will take ages so best to leave it on overnight.

Post back with results.
