Hello everyone,

Recently while playing games like Saints Row 4 and Far Cry 3 I've noticed that my PC is not performing as well as I would like it to and more specifically when I'm in game my GPU usage spikes from 100% to 0% frequently causing massive frame rate drops. Any help would be appreciated.

Specs

GPU: ASUS R9 290

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K

Power Supply: 600W Corsair

check your drivers are up to date,

Run an antivirus scan.

monitor task manager for any unusual spikes from random process'.

There maybe something using the GPU cycles and not allowing something else access to it.

Drivers are up to date, just re installed them too.

No threats detected.

I will monitor it but haven't seen any processes that are using it.

As mentioned above I would personally use AdwCleaner and HitmanPro.

i know this may seem crazy but ive had issues in the past where v-sync was causing usage spike , perhaps disable it and see if that makes a difference at all ?

Try disabling post processing and enabling vsync via CCC/AVECC (not sure what they're calling it now) then disable it in game.

Okay well in Saints Row 4 with v-sync off it still spikes but not as dramatically.

Hmm , interesting ... Have you tried changing the clock speed up ? Set it , then put them back to stock. ? Just another wacky suggestion that's worked for me once or twice lol
