WIFI TROUBLES

My pc does not detect my wifi. 

I have a router given by my internet provider. While my mobile phone does detect that wifi, my pc (hp pavilion with windows xp, it is 11 years old) does NOT. It only detects two or three specific neighbours lans, and they are always the same.

Actually some time ago it could catch that lan. Now that I have a new pc without wifi, I have no choice and I must connect the xp-based one via wifi.

Can anyone tell me whats happening?
