PX22 Problems

I bought the Turtle Beach Px22s about a year ago and they have been great but lately they have been kinda... "foggy". Kinda like how a cheap 5 dollar headset would sound. When this happens the part of the inline amp that has the headset and the speech bubble coming out of it doesn't work. Then I get a message that says, "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows doesn't recognizes it."  Normally it fixes itself after awhile but now its been over 2 hours and nothing has changed. Please help!
