Hello!

I am going through deciding on some new upgrades for my computer right now and one of the things I am going to change is the RAM. Right now my system is:

CPU: Intel® Core i7 CPU 980 @ 3.33GHz

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X58

RAM: Mushkin Enhanced SP 6GB (3 x 2GB)DDR3 1333

GPU: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

CPU Cooler: Stock

Case: Thermaltake Chaser MK-I

So what I want to do is upgrade the RAM to triple channel (3 x 4GB) 12gb DDR3 and I have found some options like corsair vengeance but I think it might be too tall because I want to start getting into overclocking with this computer. It would be too tall because I am going to get a new aftermarket CPU cooler and if the RAM is too tall it might not work. Anybody have any suggestions for what RAM I should get that would be compatible with everything and for overclocking?

Also if anything doesn't make sense please let me know!

Thank you!

- Nick

The "regular" Corsair Vengeance memory heatsinks are, from top to bottom, 2.2" tall (I own a few kits).

If height is a concern, consider looking at the

- Corsair Vengeance LP

- G.Skill Sniper / Ares / RipJaws(X)

- Mushkin Blackline / Redline / Silver line

- Kingston HyperX Fury

- Crucial Ballistix

- Patriot Viper 3 Low-Profile

As they use lower profile heatspreaders.
