Okay so i thought I would benchmark my CPU through Intel Extreme Tuning and I realised my temps are a bit higher than usual?

They went up to 73C when I am usually down at 66c or 64c so I checked my idle temps and they are higher as well.

I am usually on 32-34c but now I am sitting on low 40s.

I know this isn't much but it scares me.

I was changing my fan config and I pushed my Hyper 212 EVO by accident but not by much, could this of broke it slightly?

EDIT: I also tried setting my OC to default and temps didn't change AT ALL. it did oops

Extreme tuning utility testing puts unatural load on your cpu you won't find in real world testing, I wouldn't be worried unless you cpu starts going beyond 85 in test like that. And anything above 80 in the real world isn't to great either.

But my idling is higher D:

And I am worried because when you get a usual temp and it starts going higher it's bad.

Read that wrong, woops. Well if it's just a few degrees like that you are still in a perfectly fine zone of temps. If it gets worse I would reapply thermal paste, I am not sure what could go wrong on an air cooler other than paste drying out.

Is your fan running at normal RPM / Noise leves as usual? I would remount the cooler in your situation if you have some thermal paste and isopropyl alcohol laying around

Don't forget that temperature of your room will affect the temps of your computer. Belfast is not the hottest place in the world, but maybe there is an external explanation to this. If not, look into your thermal paste and good contact with heatsink. The temps are alright for heavy use. Intel cpu can work up to 105C after what throttles. Temps of 73C at full load are good. The temps even can change when you have started your bench test. If your pc was running for few hours it may affect the results oppose to a just turned on pc

It's idling at 40c with my fan ramped up to full speed.

I'm officially scared..

EDIT: 46c with fans default

There's nothing to worry about, just take off your cooler, inspect it for any damage, clean off the cpu and cooler with 99% isopropyl alcohol, and reapply thermal paste.

TekSyndacate's video really helps. I can't link it now because I'm in social studies class, but don't follow the Kentucky method.

If your temps are noticeably higher even when not running Intel Extreme Tuning, it is likely the thermal paste might have dried up and the bump caused it to crack and lose some contact.

Would it of dried up since November?

Also I don't know where the thermal paste is and I will be getting a water cooler soon so should I just bare through it until I get a 140XL?

Didn't you used to have an AMD FX? Perhaps you're still thinking back at those temps.

Anyway, intel (specially haswell) just runs at a higher temperature, 73 deg isn't something that would leave permanent damage or something. They can run 100c without really damaging.

I don't know where the thermal paste is dude.

I might just have to stick with this 19" 900p monitor for a bit longer and get the water cooler first.
